It’s just that I don’t want to be somebody’s crush. If somebody likes me, I want them to like the real me, not who they think I am. And I don’t want them to carry it around inside. I want them to show me, so I can feel it, too. I want them to be able to do whatever they want around me. And if they do something I don’t like, I’ll tell them.

It’s only “true shit” until it’s some other dude is scheming to break up your engagement. It’s funny how people adopt that “he/she is fair game until she’s married,” but let them catch wind of someone texting their boy or girlfriend, and the’re ready to go to war.

I’m tired of Hollywood glamorizing the idea of a protagonist (usually an avatar of the viewer) pursuing a committed person because of the notion that “they don’t belong with them, they belong with me—I’m the better person.” If the person they’re with is such a horrible asshole, then the object of your affection wouldn’t be with them, or won’t be for much longer. There’s no need for you to try to wedge yourself into their relationship for your own selfish gain. No matter how noble you think your quest is. In actuality, those people aren’t heroes, they’re the villains—selfish, arrogant villains.

It doesn’t matter if they’re married, engaged, or just dating, respect relationships.

I plan on overhauling my wardrobe. Though I’ve had my fun with skinny and super skinny jeans...

I plan on overhauling my wardrobe. Though I’ve had my fun with skinny and super skinny jeans (Levi’s 510 forever!), it’s time to move on. I’ve sold all but one of my six pairs of skinnies to Plato’s Closet (which is the biggest scam ever, btw) and used the payout to buy…wait for it…a whole THREE gallons of gas!

But I’m going for a grown, yet hip look. Because I’ve sold all but one pair of my jeans, my current fashion inclinations can only be embarrassingly described as summer camp counselor. I’m not kidding, six out of seven days of the week, that’s how I dress (with the exception that I wear a button up shirt instead of a t-shirt like some troglodyte). And though that look is perfectly fine and dandy sometimes, I’ve come to realize that it is not befitting a 20-something year-old trying to find a wife.

I need to wear nice clothes. Something to get me through my 20’s and 30’s until I graduate to glorious middle age when I can wear dad jeans, with walking shoes and still be considered a DILF.

So I’ve decided to invest in new jeans, along with casual pants like chinos, tapered khakis, shoes (no more sneakers), etc. I’m never going to not wear plaid, so shirts aren’t really a problem for me. Basically, the rest of my 20’s and 30’s well look like this…hopefully.

Wish me luck. Oh, and if anyone would like to help me out along the way (hint, hint), you’re more than welcome.

I’m going to be very transparent, but please don’t hold my imperfections against me. haha

I am very chill and (not so) quiet (once you get to know me). So you’re not wrong in the least. I like the downtime, so when I was in Huntsville, just hanging out at friends’ apartments and mine was my idea of a good time. We’d chill, crack jokes (I love to make people I like laugh), and all of that.

But my circle and my family know that when I get angry, I get angry.

It’s hard to describe, but I’ll try to the best of my abilities. lol The best way I can describe it is that I have a stove in my head, and on that stove is a pot of grease that’s always simmering. And if you’ve ever seen a grease fire, you know that it doesn’t take much to start a massive fire going; it only takes one drop of water and it goes from a hot calm pot to a raging inferno. And usually when that happens, I can get very nasty. I say things, I’ve hurt feelings, I’ve done structural damage to buildings, and broken quite a few things—my Game Boy when my game got corrupted, my cellphone when the Eagles lost to the Saints in ‘07, another cellphone, video game controller, a TV, etc. I just lose control and reason for a bit. The best thing to do is let me tire myself out, and go down for a nap. I’m not proud of it, and it’s embarrassing. I see it as a huge sign of immaturity.

But I’ve been working on it. I find breaking bottles is very therapeutic. Sometimes when I get angry, I just go out, and buy something made of glass and break it (I also save liquor and beer bottles in the trunk of my car for these situations). It sounds really silly, but it really helps me. And I figure breaking a $1 or $2 bottle is way less costly than punching a hole in the wall. Sooo yeah…that’s that.

I’m getting better at it, but sometimes the grease pot explodes and it’s probably best everyone just get away until it burns itself out.
